The Emergency Physicians Advisory Board (EPAB) provides medical oversight for the MedStar System. The MedStar System consists of MedStar EMS, the ambulance transport service operated by the Area Metropolitan Ambulance Authority, and 15 area fire departments who serve as First Response Agencies. Between MedStar EMS and the First Response Agencies there are approximately 1500 responders in the system.
EPAB is made up of a Board of Directors, a full time Medical Director, an Associate Medical Director, Assistant to the Medical Director, an Administrative Assistant, a Research Coordinator and various part-time support team members.
Medical Director: Jeff Beeson, D.O.
Jeff Beeson, D.O. is the Medical Director for EPAB. He is also an active ED Physician at Huguley Memorial Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas and at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Tx.

Associate Medical Director: John Griswell, M.D.
John Griswell, M.D. immediate past Medical Director. After approximately 14 years and 1 million patients, on July 1, 2010 Dr. Griswell retired his position as Medical Director. He is remaining with the EPAB as associate medical director. He has also been involved with Huguley Memorial Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas for approximately 30 years.
Dr. Griswell continues to be involved in rebuilding Haiti after the devastating earthquakes in 2010. His personal conquest is to build and furnish schools with the necessary equipment to provide education to thousands of Haitian children.

Associate Medical Director: Raymond Fowler, M.D. assists in guiding research conducted by EPAB and general consulting of system medical direction. He is also a Medical Director for the BioTel System in Dallas, Texas.

Executive Assistant to the Medical Director: Kaye Sheets is responsible for all clerical duties of the office, the certification/CE database, the narcotic reconciliation program, and all EMS vehicle inspections.
